I just put my 7 inch thick file of water bills away, and all the lovely correspondence one could wish for that went with it, from last year's nightmare.
If you remember, last year thousands of Cleveland Water Company customers were overcharged and it took months and months to resolve. In my own case, I spent about 60 hours of my life dealing with this crap. I received calls from folks all over the city. This website was even mentioned in one of the 7 8 or so Plain Dealer articles concerning the fiasco. I guess the Plain Dealer and the local TV stations will have plenty to do again.
Maybe Mayor Jackson will step up, and get this handled correctly. Once and for all. Look at this letter!
So, how's your Cleveland Division Of Water bill looking this month?

I have a water bill of 941.00 and called the water company in March of 2010 and a service man came out on April 1, 2010 and said that the reading was wrong it should of been 33.3 not 37.4 that i was told by the service man. Then i called they said it would take 12 weeks to fix the bill and here it is the next billing cycle and the bill still is not adjusted they just added more money to the bill.So what is the next step to get this bill fixed. Then if you call they tell you that you have a 90 minute wait before you talk to a worker, then they tell you we are still learning the new sytem and they will adjust it for you but it is never done. But they sure want there money a.s.a.p..

The best suggestion I have is to keep calling and emailing them. Maybe write the mayor of the city of Cleveland a letter, too. It's HIS dept.

My problem started In November of 2008, we realized our last 5 bills reflected a current meter read and previous meter read of 57.2. We requested an actual reading and received an adjustment bill that was incorrect. After several months of trying to resolve this over the phone with the Water Company and the City of Cleveland, my husband and I requested an accounting of our billing and payment history and a meeting with the Water Review Board. It took us 4 ½ months to get that hearing.
After many hours of going over their records, I found that we had been over charged by the Water Company and that one of our payments was applied only to the sewer portion of our bill causing an overpayment. I also discovered that from February of 2004 to November of 2009 we had only 8 meter reads, 3 of them at our request. We had our hearing in January. In March we received the Hearing Decision Letter dated stating that our account would be adjusted, the decisions of the Board are final and that we have 10 days to contact the collections department to satisfy the outstanding balance. Three days after that, we receive our bill. There are no adjustments at all and they are claiming we owe over $900! Based off their own records, it’s more like $200!
There is no appeal process that I have found so I’m asking my city Councilman to get involved and posting this anywhere and everywhere I can.

November estimated bill was $92.95. Todays actual reading bill is $495.01. Two people, two dogs. 1200 sq ft ranch without a basement. In the middle of winter.
